We have been using the Sockitz safety shield for some time now on a Decent Homes project in West Yorkshire. Since using these brilliant, well constructed, bright yellow boxes on all our of rewires, I have personally seen a vast improvement to both safety and quality of work.
The boxes are instantly noticeable and cover the full area around both light switches and sockets, meaning there is no access for fingers to accidentally touch live wires behind the fronts of the sockets (and we all know how inquisitive children are!). Because the fronts are set away from the wall, they tend to stay cleaner and can be cleaned in safety when processes such as plastering and painting are taking place.
There is also a much better finish by the plasterer, as they have something solid to work to on all four sides of the socket or switch. This in turn dramatically reduces the occurrence of tripping the fuse due to plaster touching the wires behind the sockets. All in all, this is a cheap labour saving device, well made and effective when used for both large scale projects and the private market. Well done Sockitz!
